We had some fun this week with bright colors and are excited to show you this transformation! Below is what we started with.
The chair was old, chipped, stained and beyond dirty when we found it at a garage sale for $7 but was made of real wood and was large and about 25 spiders came with it for free, so we decided to give it a face lift!
We started off by cleaning the piece and priming with Zinsser as per usual. After that, we decided to give spray paint a try and chose a bright cherry red. Here’s what she looked like after her first coat.
The chair was previously distressed so we wanted to give it a completely different look by picking a gloss paint and keeping it crisp and fresh, so we continued adding light coats until completely covered.
For a cushion, we used went for the most simple method possible. We purchased a $3 pillow cover from IKEA and slipped in two IKEA chair cushions for some extra comfort. We found the cushions for $0.99 each, so the total for the seat cushion was about $5! We love using these because the pillow cover already has a zipper on it. Seat cushions tend to get dirty of course, so this way you can just slip off the cover and wash it as you wish!
For the pillow, we used a napkin we had purchased at West Elm on clearance and made an easy envelope cover for an existing pillow. Slip that on and you’re in business!
Here’s a quick glance at a before and after! Our dirty old chair became a bright fun accent for less than $20!
Prost and thanks for stoping by!
