Today’s post is all about Paige! When I first was moving into the house, Paige was not planning on living with me because she was going to be in college and had not even heard of her internship (the reason she’s home!) yet. So, my excited-to-decorate-self already had picked out a paint color and some basic bedding, curtains & accessories for what was then the guest room. When we found out she was officially moving home, the space officially changed to her bedroom and she added in her own ideas and accessories. Because of this, the room is a mix of both styles, but I think it came out great!
Let’s start out with the usual floor plan and before picture…
I was very tempted to leave those curtains up but after much consideration decided to take them down. Oh-wait-I-lied I ripped them down faster than I can talk myself into delaying my diet another day so I can dive into that bowl of Halloween candy that I shouldn’t have put out 5 days early. A little paint and furniture, and here’s what the room looks like now!
I found the nightstand stashed away in a corner of my work- turns out my mom used it for us when we were little next to our rocking chair. It’s perfectly mid-century and I’m so glad we can re-use it!
The lamp was a find at my great grandma’s home (the same one from the utensil story!) and we just replaced the old shade. Paige styled the nightstand including gold accents and personal favorites- the figurine and gold star.
The ledge was also an original-guest-room item along with the chalkboard canvas (recreated from Pinterest inspiration) and sunburst mirror, created with wood shims and a round mirror. Paige added a few pictures and frames to compliment the gold accents and personalize the space.
Opposite of her bed is her dresser, styled with a mix of our personalities as well! Cute little shelves on the mirror hold her toiletries and her favorite animal, the giraffe, creeps on her peeps out behind some decorative vases.
Last but not least is her knoby updates- she chose a clear cut knob that matched her door handles (lucky- the only door in the house that has them!) and her added artwork to represent her sorority love!
What do you think? I love how it started off as a neutral guest room and with a few accessories became 100% Paige. Next on the project list for the room is adding some character to the white curtains and sprucing up the bed frame (was also ours when we were little! work with what ya got!) so stay tuned…
Thanks for stopping by! : )
Prost!
