Paige’s College Bedroom Reveal

Today I wanted to share with you what I’ve done with my room at college so far. I am not 100% moved in yet, as I am in Michigan this semester for an internship so it is still a work in progress! I live in a duplex with five of my sorority sisters, the rooms are very small to work with but we love it all the same. I believe my bedroom must have been originally used as a T.V. room when “real people” lived there. I wanted to give my room a cozy feel and fill it with all my favorite colors and style. My favorite colors happen to be orange, blue, and gold and although that isn’t usually a modern color scheme and has potential to look like a Miami Dolphin fans paradise, I knew I could make my vision work!  Add a little classic bohemian style and I’m in heaven. The first thing I had on my list of to-dos for my room was my door, because technically I didn’t really have one. It is a sliding old wooden door with windows so not much privacy! I went and bought a themed pack of scrapbooking paper (way easier than trying to cordinate individual sheets) and just very simply taped it onto the glass on both sides. I was very happy with the result, love the different patterns and textures, almost like a piece of artwork for my room!

Next, I thankfully had a tall skinny dresser (one that could fit) that was given to me by my grandma. I liked the old style of it and how the wood matched the door perfectly! But to give it more style I replaced the old knobs on the top drawer with four different colored knobs that I had found to give the dresser a personal touch. It was a simple and easy change with a screwdriver, not to mention very inexpensive!

For my bed, I had the mattress and boxframe but no actual bedframe. After a long deliberation, I decided it was not needed and in true college fashion my bed could just go on the floor. I had thoughts of crafting a headboard (still do) but for now I was able to find a flower wall sticker that works as a makeshift headboard and gives the walls a little blossom of happiness from all that beige.

For the rest of my room I just added a few of my personal items to fill the room with things that make me feel at home. I was very excited that I was able to make every inch of my room count! You can also see the bedside table from Wednesday’s post being put to use. So here are just a few pictures of my room in progress:

What once was a T.V. room is now my own little personal expression of myself (as all good decor should be). I have dreams of somehow putting a bookshelf in to keep myself organized with my studies, testing my electrical (my boyfriend’s) knowledge and replacing my light fixture with a chandelier (necessary), and ripping up that beautiful dark green carpet. My last dream might be a little far fetched as it is a rental…and stretches across the whole house. But with all things, challenge accepted. Coming soon: a living room mini golf course.

Happy Friday!

Prost!
