While we were wondering around Target (dangerous) the other day, we found these adorable letter ornaments that we almost walked out of the store with, but decided that we could live without them for the moment. I know, we actually put something down at Target. Practically unheard of. So, when I passed by the wooden letters section at Joanns the other day, I picked them up so we could make our own!
We hung them as ornaments, but they could also be used as a cute addition to a stocking or gift wrap : ) Paige did the P & D and I did the J & M. We tried to make each one different, so here’s what we ended up with!
P for Paige… Her sorority, Alpha Chi Omega, themed! Paige added red and green stripes using acrylic paints and added hot glued pearls (leftover from yesterdays tree post) after it was dry. Using some yarn and a ribbon bow to hang it up, the P was comPlete!
D for Deke & Dan her man… Bright green acrylic paint to compliment the bulbs already on our tree, then jazzed up with some gold beads attached with hot glue, also leftover from yesterdays post : ) She added a twine tie to the top, and it’s now sitting pretty on the tree.
J for Jodie… I took white yarn and wrapped it around the whole letter, securing it every few wraps with hot glue. Once it was completely covered, I glued twine piping around the edges, and added a red bow for some color.
M for Matt my guy… Red acrylic paint was used on the edges, and I cut out an M shape from wrapping paper (by tracing the letter upside down) for the top. I glued the paper to the top using Mod Podge and dipped the “feet” of the M in the acrylic paint once the glue was dry. I hung my two ornaments up and we were done!
We ended up liking these even more than the Target versions since they were homemade, and love the fun addition they made to our tree 🙂 Which one is your favorite? Check out our other posts below for another simple gift ideas perfect for co-workers, the mailman, or even yourself!

That J is amazing. I’m going to change my name so I can make one just like it 🙂 Or I could suddenly realize that my middle name DOES start with J. I must get to JoAnn!
