Christmas Tulle Wreath

DIY Tulle Christmas Wreath - Sypsie Designs

We finally broke our good ‘ol twig wreath back out for the holiday season! She’s already made an appearance for both Halloween and fall, and now we’ve dressed her up for Christmas. All of our designs require no glue or painting so we can purposely reuse the wreath for multiple holidays, instead of attempting to store 12 different wreaths in our already small-minimal-storage house.

This time, we visited a local craft store and picked up two packs of 10″ round tulle pieces in red and mint green, as well as a red wired ribbon.

Each piece of tulle got pinched at the center to make almost a flowered shape like this,

And then we used a rubber band (the small kind that are popping up everywhereeee since kids making jewelry with them is super popular right now… mine on the other hand are left over from the days when I’d cornrow everyone’s hair… Paige was always my guinea pig… I’ll let you picture that one for a few minutes and chuckle to yourselves) to make sure the tulle kept it’s shape.

Then, we just attached them to the wreath by wedging the rubber banded portion between twigs. If we were making a permanent version we would’ve hot glued them to the wreath, but the rubber band worked as a great way to make sure the tulle pieces were nice and secure. Plus, we didn’t have to worry about the little tails sticking out, as we layered the pieces on top of each other.

After we attached all of our tulle, we fluffed it up and added a giant bow made out of our red & gold wired ribbon. We chose wired this time as we wanted a larger bow, so it would maintain it’s shape and not get all droopy and sad on us.

We hung it up on our front door, and it’s been holding up great! The mint green actually looks white now that it’s up, but candy canes are perfectly festive as well of course! As renters we don’t have the ability to fully decorate the outside of the house, and don’t necessarily want to spend the money to purchase lots of outdoor decor, so a simple wreath like this adds a little homeyness : ) Happy Holidays!
