I’m so incredibly excited to share this news… I’ve officially moved!
I (Jodie, Paige is still living in her college home) have mentioned in the past that my boyfriend, Matt, lives about an hour away from my rental house. We’ve decided that after a year and a half of living out of bags traveling back and forth (my makeup literally never left a small travel case for a year either) that moving in together was our next step!
This past weekend & the next few weekends coming up, I’m transitioning my things into his apartment. So while this is very exciting for us and our cars (holy miles) it means that things on Sypsie will most likely slow down a tad. I’m aiming to post twice a week, Wednesdays & Fridays, and if I’m able to manage that easily I’ll re-evaluate! Projects will become more frugal than ever (I’m excited about the challenge!) as we’re trying to build up our bank accounts for a more permanent home (the “ours” part of the key art!), but more on that later!
I have so many new project ideas and hope you will continue to follow along this new journey into our new shared home : )
And to finish off this post with a project, here are a few simple steps to create your own key art! I used rope, an old frame, blank keys, scrapbook paper, bakers twine and hot glue and tape as adhesives.
- Wrap rope around a frame using a dab of hot glue every couple of inches until the frame is covered
- Cut the desired scrapbook paper to size (mine was 5×7), including smaller rectangles for labels
- Hang keys with bakers twine, attaching the twine with tape on the back side of the scrapbook paper
- Add scrapbook paper labels
- Done!
My only tip would be to use a key “model” that would not actually open your home. I had them cut on three different shaped keys, so if it ever got in someone else’s hands, they wouldn’t work in any of the doors. Maybe that’s nutty, but figured it wouldn’t hurt : )
And I’d say that’s about enough excitement for today! Off to finish packing…
PS. Want more Sypsie? Follow us by email (top of the right sidebar!) or any of our social pages!
Congratulations! And the key art is so cute!
Thanks Melissa : ) I’m so excited to get settled in- and of course can’t wait to decorate!
