A couple of months ago we shared one of our favorite furniture makeovers (I feel like we say that a lot- but I really do have multiple favorites) our dresser, and today we’re back to show you the matching nightstand!
Just like the dresser, the nightstand was a glossy with an orangey stain so we started off by sanding it down with some medium grit sandpaper, and priming it with a good bonding primer.
However, after putting on our first coat of paint we experienced lots and lots of bubbles in the paint. Here’s the best picture I could manage. I have no idea why, but it happened. Boo nightstand. Boo.
So, we had to re-sand down the first coat with a fine grit sandpaper, and add a second coat of paint. This time we had much better luck for some reason. It remains a mystery.
After that, we added two coats of a water based Polycritic, added hardware that matched the dresser, and we were done! It now sits in the new place and here’s a tiny sneak peak and our bedroom!
I’m loving it so far (ignore the ding in the front from moving! oops!) and how it matches the dresser, without being identical.
The nightstand holds my lamp & picture frame from Target, a small plate for jewelry and my phone from Pottery Barn, and a mercury glass vase and basket from Marshalls. My kind of mix of function and pretty : )
Now we just have to find M one in a similar style for his side to paint.
I’m looking at you garage sales : ) What do you think? I can’t wait to show you the whole room, but I have a few projects to accomplish first!
