Detroit Cooler: Drinks With the Girls Spring Edition

It’s Friday! Which means it’s almost the weekend. Which for us a lot of the time means relaxing with a fun drink (Hopefully outside? Crossing my fingers!) and not worrying about a thing. Except this time it’s even better- because we get to share a favorite recipe and cheers some amazing bloggers at the same time for the Drinks with the Girls Spring blog hop!

Detroit Cooler Recipe Drinks With The Girls

For this spring edition of Drinks with the Girls, we wanted to share something light and easy to sip on, so we chose to make a drink named the Detroit Cooler. The best part is how simple it is to make. Simply grab a glass with some ice and combine 4 oz. of Vernors with 1 oz. of vanilla vodka. Lastly, squeeze 1/4 of a fresh orange into your glass, and garnish with an orange peel if you’re feeling fancy. All you need for the garnish is to peel a thin piece of the rind off with a vegetable peeler, twist tight and hold for a few seconds. The peel should stay curled and adds a fun touch to any summer drink. Sip & enjoy!

It is basically a 21+ version of a Boston Cooler, but since we use Vernors (a Michigan staple) it’s renamed a Detroit Cooler. For anyone who’s not near the mitten state, any kind of ginger ale will work! The orange adds a bit of a fruity summer spin on the original, and although the vanilla vodka takes the place of the ice cream, we wouldn’t judge if you added a scoop or two as well 🙂

While you’re sipping on your drink, make sure to check out the other eight amazing bloggers and their delicious drink recipes!
