Easy Rustic Centerpiece

Easy Rustic Centerpiece - Sypsie Designs

If you’ve had a chance to check out our fall home tour, then you have already had a sneak peek at this project! It is insanely easy and I love how it turned out.

I was running around the house on Friday getting ready for our housewarming party on Saturday and wanted to come up with something quick that would be more exciting than flowers in a single vase for the dining room centerpiece. So, I pulled together a few simple things that I had around the house (except for the flowers, which came from Krogers, although I wish I had a garden that could yield such pretty things, but sadly I’d probably kill them before they bloomed like this).

Step one was a trip to the recycling bin. My own not ones on the curb, don’t worry : )  I found a few different containers and got to cleaning them off.

The Starbucks glasses look like little milk bottles when you take off the label, and did you know that the Classico jars say Atlas Mason under the label? They also have cute little measuring ticks on the sides in ounces. I also gathered a few of these little candle holders from IKEA. I don’t remember exactly how much they were (it’s been a while, but I know they still sell them!) but they were between $0.50 and $1.

I played around with them until I got the look I was going for, so that A) I knew the size of the piece of wood I was going to be looking for, and B) so I didn’t have to clean more jars than necessary. We were going for speed here : )

The jars got a good cleaning to get all of the labels and glue off, and I went into the garage in search of a scrap piece of wood… success!

It got a good sanding and then one coat each of stain in Minwax’s Special Walnut followed up by Ebony.

Once the wood and jars were dry, it was as easy as placing the jars and candles on the piece of wood and throwing in some fun flowers and a few candles!

What do you think? It cost me a whopping $5 (for the flowers) and took less than 10 minutes of actual work, and if you had flowers you could trim from your own garden this project could be free!

Also- I found that cute green lace trimmed napkin at Pier one for about $2 on clearance… it’s such a pretty way to add a little color! I may have picked up multiple… Dang you clearance aisle and your pretty things.

Hope you have a fabulous weekend- I’m looking forward to some R&R!
