Welcome back to the One Room Challenge hosted by Calling It Home! I cannot believe how fast 3 weeks has gone by! Half way there… aka feeling the pressure, but loving the motivation having a deadline gives me! If you’re stopping by for the first time, here’s a recap of Week 1 and Week 2.
Last week we had taken off the baseboard tiles and were prepping the existing vanity.
This week I’m struggling, because decision making is not always my strong suit. I’m hoping to not have to redo any part of the room more than once, so every decision counts!
First off, we have the paint dilemma. We have an awesome friend who lives just around the corner who lent us her paint samples when we moved in, and I had quite the collection myself. So, when I went downstairs to look for a “couple” of neutrals to try out in the room, this is what I ended up with…
Yes, that is TEN different samples of grays and beiges. I’d name them all, but I thought it would be fun to see what you think without knowing the name! (Half of them are Pinterest approved and half of them are not as popular). Straight color instead of being swayed by names. Kind of a science experiment. Come to think of it, I never loved science. Maybe if my teacher used examples that involved paint colors I would have liked it more : ) I think I have a favorite (or 3), but would love any suggestions!
Next up was choosing a new baseboard to replace the tile. When visiting Home Depot, I literally had 1,000 or more options by doubling or tripling up different trims, but in the end I chose something more simple. We couldn’t use what’s in the rest of the house because it was not tall enough to cover the damage the old tile had done, so I picked a larger version with a bit more detail on the top. It reminded me of what you’d see in an old house which is what sold me.
It’s currently being painted in the garage, so here’s a few shots of it pre-install!
I like that it blends in, but still stands out. Make sense? Just pretend even if it doesn’t to make me feel better : P t can’t wait to get it up!
Last but not least, is the vanity. I’ve narrowed it down to painting the entire thing in Benjamin Moore’s Cloud White, or painting only the inside and staining the frame and doors in Minwax’s Weathered Oak.
Other than making all of these decisions, we’re plugging away at the room! I’d love to share more, but I’ll leave that for next week : ) We’re starting on the closet right now, and can’t wait to share that progress next week!
Before you go, make sure to check out these 20 amazing designers progress, as well as all of the participants progress!
So what do you think… paint color suggestion? Feeling the white or stain for the vanity? Have troubles making decisions just like me? Maybe I’ll grab a glass of wine and think about it a little longer : ) Till next Thursday!

oh my, i see the painting dilemma….I like the second from the top {it looks like gray?} can’t wait to see what you choose!
Thanks Tara! Yes, I think I might have gave myself a few too many options haha! #2 is one of the ones on my top 3 list : )
I think i like #9 but hard to tell true colors with curtain. Keep the progress coming! Looks great!
Love that choice too! #9 is a Pinterest approved color : ) Thanks so much Kate!
I like lighter colors better than darker colors, even though darker colors make a room cozier.
That’s a great point! The room gets great natural light, but a dark color might cause some excess makeup to be applied haha : ) Hope you have a fabulous day!
Friends with paint samples are awesome! I think I would choose #9 and white trim. But “in vino, veritas” so definitely look at it after a glass of wine. 🙂
Haha! I have never heard of that phrase before (sometimes I feel like I live under a large rock) but it might just be my new favorite one! Thanks so much for the vote! Cheers : )
I like #3 for sure, followed by #9. And I do really like the vanity idea but would depend for sure on what the countertop is.
Thanks Christine! The countertops will be concrete, so a light gray color with a white sink and stainless faucet : )
I like all of the colors! haha! Obviously I’m indecisive too! I’m going to paint my vanity all white, so I love that idea, but I’m curious about the stain and paint idea too. Can’t wait to see what you end up choosing!
Haha thanks Sam! I’m thinking a good game of einie-menie-miney-mo might be in my future : ) I love the color gray that you chose for your room as well!
I’m leaning towards number 3. Can’t wait to see which one you end up going with. Good luck this next week!
Thanks Erin! I like that one too… It definitely reads more of a true gray than #6. All of these suggestions are definitely helping to narrow it down : )
I like 3 & 6, but you know what it looks like in person. can’t wait to see more.
Thanks Linda! Those are both pretty colors in person too 🙂 loving all of the suggestions!
I personally think #9 is a good neutral. I would paint the vanity white. It will look awesome!
Those would look nice together- I like this idea as well! : ) Thanks Jeanne!
i f you’re keeping the shower curtain, #1, 7 & 10 work . . . . I like & best, because it reminds me of my own BM Raccoon Hollow, which is tres dramatique!!!!
oops, that should read, # 7. Must learn to proofread before hitting enter . . . .
Thanks so much! Haha I was going to guess 7 : ) Happens to me all the time! Yes, the shower curtain is new and staying, I love all three of those! I just looked up Raccoon Hallow, it’s definitely a pretty color as well!
Love all the colors you chose, but i’d say I like either #1 or #9 the best of the ten! Love the shower curtain! Can’t wait to see what you all choose 🙂
Thank you! : ) So close to making a decision… can’t wait to share!
