Welcome to the 2014 Cocktail Party Hop! Ourselves along with 35+ bloggers are sharing some ideas for any holiday party- including cocktails/mocktails, appetizers and desserts and sweet treats! While I love a good cocktail, you can usually find me with a glass of wine over by the dessert table… Would I see you there? #noshame
So, I decided to share a recipe that has been a staple in my family for over 10 years! We get together each and every year around Christmas and crank out a few hundred of these assembly line style (with some variations of course- can’t share the entire family secret!)
They are so simple and always a crowd pleaser!
First, you will need these ingredients:
- Pretzels
- Caramel (to melt)
- Chocolate (any favorites work- again will be melted)
- Heath bar pieces
- Sprinkles
So, first step is to melt the caramel. We use the microwave- 30 seconds at a time and stir until it’s melted! If your caramel is being stubborn, try adding a little bit of milk and it should turn out nice and creamy in no time.
Dip your pretzels and follow immediately with rolling the pretzel in the Heath chunks. Kind of like you’re breading chicken, except for much sweeter and more delicious.
Place it on a tray with parchment paper or tin foil and let dry.
Now it’s time to melt the chocolate. Again, 30 seconds at a time in the microwave until it’s melted. Every time a cycle has ended, be sure to stir those chips- you’d be surprised at how melted they actually are (even when they don’t look like it), and chocolate is easy to burn if you over cook it. If all else fails, try a small batch first until you get the hang of it : )
Place the pretzel back on the tray and sprinkle with your choice of sprinkles before the chocolate is dry.
Let cool, and enjoy!
Easy enough, right? You can experiment with many different “fillings” instead of the Heath as well, and they are an easy finger food dessert to add to any party menu! Let me know if you try them and what you think : )
Alright, I’d love to keep you hear all day and we could talk about other delicious desserts and all of the crazy football games this past weekend, but make sure you check out all of the blogs participating in this Holiday Cocktail Party and their delicious recipes!
