Holy moly. I am so behind the ORC this week it’s not even funny! Hence the late post. Is anyone else out there participating feeling like this week flew by so fast it didn’t even exist? Luckily, despite the craziness this week brought, we did manage to start to make a dent in our garage project.
As a little recap, here’s where we started last week:
Lovely, right? The major update we’ve been able to make so far involves paint and shopping. Two of my favorites 🙂 We took a huge Home Depot/Lowes trip and picked up the wood we will need, our HUGE pegboard, a garage hanging organizer and paint.
After staring at paint samples and weighing all of our options/changing my mind 5 different times…Â We ended up with PPG’s Mercurial! It’s an awesome warm brown/gray that changes with the different lighting. I also color matched to Behr’s Marquee paint as per usual to make my life a bit easier : )
We managed to get almost all of the painting done outside of a few spaces where I still need to cut in, and I absolutely love it!
Also on our list was addressing the exterior door. It’s drafty and terrible to look at, so we filled in the cracks with door spray foam and added some simple trim to dress it up.
Excuse the upside down picture 🙂 We went the easy route and picked up this pre-cut trim for around $18, and M had it installed in less than 10 minutes! I even got a little bit of the navy (BM’s Van Duesen Blue) painting done on the doors. Don’t worry I’m not done, although M said we should leave it and call it “art deco” ha! Despite the half completed paint, I think the door looks so much better already.
Alright back to work! We have so many projects ahead of us, but I’m happy to cross a few off of the list!
- Declutter aka take everything out and re-evalutate
Paint walls, ceiling (repairs from a previous water leak) anddoors- Clean & paint floors
Add trim around exterior door- Finish installing garage door opener (currently just hanging there since we originally put it up last year. oops)
- Add shelving along right wall
- Add hanging storage/hooks along right wall
- Create scrap wood storage
- Add a peg board organizing system
- Revamp work bench as mystery project
- Create mudroom area
- Build bench
- Build gardening and potting area
- Add art and fun signage
- Be able to park my truck inside before Pure Michigan’s winter strikes… maybe : )
Until next week 🙂 And in the meantime, make sure you check out all of the progress going on at Calling it Home!!
