It’s here! I swear I blinked and 6 weeks went by.
Today we’re sharing the reveal of our One Room Challenge project, our garage! Six short weeks ago we shared the nightmare-inducing before pictures of our garage, and I’m happy to say that I can officially declare these pictures a thing of the past.
Along the way, we shared our plans, tons of updates in weeks 2, 3, 4 & 5, and now we’ve finally made it to the pretty pictures part : )
Real talk- this ORC was honestly the most difficult of all 3 we’ve participated in. Complete with blood, sweat, near-tears and a “touch-up” paint job that went awry last night (as in 24 hours ago) this project was a real treat. Luckily we have a finished space that we can now enjoy and hopefully look back and laugh about! It’s a little different than most of the reveals, but we absolutely loved the challenge of it all. We got (almost) everything done on our list, and we hope you enjoy it just as much as we do! Let’s start off with my favorite spot- the workbench I kept mentioning!
Here’s where we stood 6 weeks ago,
And here’s what that same exact workbench looks like now!
Ain’t paint, trim and caulk a beautiful thing? I’m planning on sharing all of the details next week, but we essentially reinforced all of the framing, added 4 doors, a new top and some fun hardware! Rustoleum provided us with the paints for this project, including the fun chalkboard paint that we used on the top. We’re constantly looking for pen and paper to write down measurements, so I thought this could be a fun alternative!
We gave our existing workbench the same paint treatment, and added the fun green pegboard, framed out with simple 2x4s. Eventually we will bring in our saw and fill up the rest of the shelves with all of our random tools, but for now all that organization makes me one happy DIYer!
How fun are these DIY pendant lights? I picked up the supplies, told M about my idea to make them into a light, and off and running he went. He’s the genius who pieced them together, and I love how they turned out! As my grandpa told me, I think we’ll keep him! : )
We even got to dust off M’s papa’s old tool chest and can’t wait to fill it with all of our random drill bits.
Next to the door, we also squeezed in a little mudroom area, and had fun building a bench and hanging some large art (they’re actually for our wedding, but how fun do they look up there?).
The potting bench was our next project, and I can’t wait to use this space next spring to get all of our pretty flowers planted!
The last little bits of organization we created was this rolling scrap wood holder, and bringing in shelving with bins-on-bins-on-bins. It may not be the prettiest thing for a One Room Challenge, but boy does it make me happy to see everything nice and put away for a change : )
Thanks so much for stopping by for this fun challenge reveal! We can’t wait for the next one, and hope you visit the amazing Calling it Home who organizes the entire challenge to see her projects as well as all of the other ORC participant’s reveal posts!
Love reveals? Check out our past two ORC projects, the guest bedroom and main bath : )

Jodie, I will literally fly you out here to makeover my garage!! I want it to look just like yours!
First, I’m obsessed with the pegboard. Second, that looks just like the toolbox we have from my husband’s gpa – also named papa! You guys killed this and I’m kinda jealous of all the bright white. Is it too soon for me to repaint my garage?
It’s soooo pretty! I love every detail and I’m ready to move in! Don’t mind me, I’ll just bring my sleeping bag…
Congrats so nice and organized. It will be wonderful to have the little bench and hooks to.

WOW…this garage space is amazing! I love the organizational details that will help keep things nice and neat! We could use the rolling wood holder in our garage! Nice job!
Wow! This is all so great! We are going to work on our garage in the near future but I can bet it won’t be half as good as this! Congrats!
This looks amazing! I love the pegboard and work bench, the potting bench is amazing, and the rolling scrap wood cart is just perfection. What a great transformation!

Wow! What a transformation! I’m so inspired. Our garage is like a pit of disorganized despair and this gives me hope that it can be wonderful someday π Amazing makeover.
This is one of the prettiest garages I have seen! I love how bold you were to put WHITE into this space. All of the storage is perfect. LOVE LOVE LOVE
Is this really a garage! I love the use of the peg board, the creative lighting & the cart of the scrap wood. Well done!
Amazing
Way to go! It feels so good when the garage is clean but you’ve made yours beautiful too. One Room Challenge win!!
Wow! This looks so awesome! Such great inspiration for my garage!
What a great space! Our garage needs a major clean & purge after it was our junk storage/workroom for the ORC. you’ve completely inspired me to create a nice space like this. Love it!
This is the most beautiful garage I’ve ever seen. I’m embarassing to think about what mine looks like at the moment…
Wow, such a great makeover! I love the mudroom area, and the frame around the pegboard is genius. Enjoy this great space!
Liar! This is not the same garage! I can not even believe it and just thinking about all of the hard work that went into this challenge scares me:) I would sleep in my garage if it looked like this. You guys rocked this ORC!
I love this! I put a couple of photos on pinterest so I can refer to them later when I get around to organizing my garage. You have inspired me!
Oh my goodness… Can you come and do our garage?! π Well done!!!
I love an organized garage. This one is beautiful! I’m actually really jealous. Great job.
I love all of this, but seriously, where does everyone find these beautiful, graphic area rugs? And I see how you made the lamp shades with bulb cages and duct work, but how do you plug them in? Is there a cord running behind the peg board into an outlet? And if you don’t mind a third question, what is the square cage around the other hanging light fixture?
Thanks for sharing this, you’re giving the rest of us hope for our own garage!
Hi Belle! So sorry- I just saw your question! The rug is from Homegoods and you are right about the cord- it’s hiding behind the pegboard and the plug pops out on the side near the power strip π The light in the middle of the room was purchased that way- but I’m sure you could find a similar shaped cage to make into a light at a home decor store! Hope this helps and thanks so much for stopping by!!
Hi. It would be great if you would pull back and get a pic of the whole garage.
What an incredible transformation! This is totally random but I love the blue color of your door~
Thanks so much Stephanie! It’s Benjamin Moore’s Van Deusen Blue π
Thanks! I was wondering the same thing. Love the colors! I’ll keep scrolling to see if I can find the wall color π
Just in case it’s not on here- it’s PPG Mercurial π Thanks so much for stopping by!
Hello , what color is on the walls ?
Hi Kerri! It’s PPG Mercurial π Have a wonderful day!
Beautiful job! What are the colors you used for your floor and walls?
Thanks Julie! The wall color is Mercurial by PPG and the floor color is Flat Top by Behr π
Hi! Beautiful garage! I am in process of re-doing my garage space. I would really appreciate if you could share the paint that you used here. Thanks!
Hi Sue! Thank you so much! The wall paint color is Mercurial by PPG π
What did you use for the cabinet doors on the work bench? This is my favorite garage!!! Awesome job!
Thanks so much Amy! They are made of 1/2″ MDF board with lattice trim glued on to create the faux drawers and shaker style doors, then painted in high gloss white paint!
Hi! Fantastic job! We are in the middle of a garage reno. Love your idea of chalkboard paint on countertop. Just wondering on the durability of this horizontal finish? How is yours holding up?
Thanks,
Elizabeth
This garage makeover is AH-MAZE-ING! I love it – just pinned it and I’m showing it to my husband. I wanted to tackle our garage this round but it’s just too much work for the fall/pre-Christmas season. The spring! I’ll do it then:)
Thank you so much Krista! That’s so sweet of you! Can’t wait to see what you come up with – this was one of our favorites to work on!
Can you tell me how much you spent on your garage? We are gearing up for a very similar project!!
Hi Jalene! I don’t have a full cost out sheet, but I’d guess around $700 for everything (a large portion was the trim work!). Hope that helps!
Our before looks so much like yours!! I’m hoping we get the the “after” prior to memorial day! Its going to be a lot of work! Thanks for the inspiration!!
Thanks for stoping by and for sharing Jalene! π So much hard work to sort through everything and clean, but it’s so so worth it in the end! Best of luck!!
Do you have plans for the scrap wood container on wheels??
Hi Denise! Unfortunately I don’t right now but I’ll see if I can manage to mock something up in the next few weeks! Thanks so much for stopping by!
Where are the specs of all of the wood making – like the work bench, etc?
Hi Darren! We built the workbench off of the existing shell so I don’t have exact specs, but here’s a different post with a little bit more detail if that helps at all! Thanks! http://jodiei.sg-host.com/2016/02/29/garage-workbench/
I love everything, But I really want to know the names of the colors you used. The blue door and Grayish walls? Do you remember what they are??? Beautiful job!!
Hi Michelle! Absolutely! The walls are Mercurial by PPG, and the door is Van Deusen Blue by Benjamin Moore. Thank you! π
Would u be willing to share how u created the workbench with drawers & doors, Please!,!!! Canβt find those tips ANYWHERE
Your garage is stunning i’m totally going to steal.some of your ideas. Can you tell me where you found that cute little faceplate for your faux drawer cabinet door?
Hi Laneu! Thanks so much, that’s the nicest compliment! The faceplates on the top faux drawers were from the brand Liberty but I’m not sure if they’re available in store anymore since it was a few years ago. So sorry about that!
Hi can you share how you made the diy lights and what you used??
This looks great and it is exactly what I am planning to do. Can you share the colour and sheen of the paints please?
