We’re officially down to the last week of updates for this spring’s One Room Challenge! Next week is the reveal, and I have been absolutely loving following all of the amazing makeovers happening over at Calling it Home, the lovely host of this challenge!
I’m not going to lie, as per usual, our room is really coming down to the wire. As a little refresher, we started off with a segmented master bathroom, and wanted to make it feel like one cohesive space. Our goal was to create an industrial-meets-glam bathroom, and so far we’ve taken on the demo, replaced the floors, installed a new vanity and tile wall, and last but not least is the shower!
As you may be able to tell from the before picture, it’s a yellowish-tan 4×4 square tile with about 5 grip bars, making the space feel even smaller than it is.
Also not doing anything any justice was the original frosted textured corroded doors. On the list for this last week is to fix up the whole area!
The doors have been removed and those handle bars are long gone. We’ve picked up new sliding clear glass doors from Home Depot, that I’m hoping will help make the space feel larger, and we’re tackling all of the holes we were left with in the tile with a sealant! We want to be sure there’s no water leaks behind those walls that could cause any long term damage.
Next up is the epoxy paint we’re using to cover up all of the old tile. After reading a few reviews and a recommendation from a friend, we decided on this product. Wish us luck! I’ve purchased a huge mask because of the fumes, and am very excited to see what it turns out like. If it’s anything close to white, bright and clean then I’ll be beyond happy 🙂 One day we’ll tear everything out and start fresh, but for now I’m excited to refresh the space on a serious budget!
The steps so far have been less than picture ready, so no un-glamorous photos this week, but we’ll have plenty of finished ones to share next week at the reveal!
I’ve also been shopping again 🙂 Accessories really bring the space together, even in small bathrooms, so using our original mood board I think I’ve found some fun items!
We also have to finish up trim, decorations, hanging that mirror that we left off last weeks post with, and a million other little things!
More to come next week – think of this as that final week on home makeover tv shows where they kick the homeowner out, and they can’t see anything until it’s totally completed. I’m still waiting on that contractor to come kick me out and finish it up too, but until then I guess we’ll keep tackling that to-do list 🙂
See you here next week! We’re beyond excited!

J & P I can’t wait for the reveal! I love the direction the room is going in. As a fellow ORC participant it’s been wonderful to gather some fantastic inspiration. I’d love for you guys to share your progress at Thoughts of Home on Thursday. Our readers would love to see it. The gathering is at http://www.decortoadore.net
That shower is going to look amazing when you are done with it! I can’t wait to see your reveal next week! Cheers to both of us having relaxing new master bathrooms in just a few short days!
