Hi there and welcome back! Can you even believe how amazing all of the projects are looking over at Calling it Home? I can’t believe it’s already week 4 and how much progress everyone’s made! This is usually the week where I start to freak out a bit about getting everything done in time, and usually despite the stress add a project or two to the list. And surprise, surprise, we’re right on time with that in this room too!
If you’re here for the first time, I’m Jodie and together with my sister and husband we run Sypsie Designs! We’ve participated in the ORC hosted by Linda at Calling it Home for the past 4 seasons, and absolutely love the challenge!
If you’d like to get caught up, in week 1 we showed the embarrassing befores and our plans for the space, week 2 was all about paint and the start of our trim, and week 3 we shared our final (I hope) chair options and some shopping we did.
Now on to week 4! Let’s start off with how the room is looking currently, and the in the end I need your input on some fabric options 🙂
We managed to finish up all of the trim (oh my am I in love with the simple chunkiness of it all!) using 1×6’s as the baseboards, and a mixture of 1×4’s, 1×2’s and 1×6’s for the window and door frames. Previously we had standard baseboards and trim, but we finally decided to upgrade to something more our style with this room being the first to go in the house!
I also couldn’t wait until the final staging process to get things up on the wall, so the four wood frames I picked up at Homegoods a few months ago finally found a home. It’s just a simple arrangement but I can’t wait to fill it with something fun!
Also, as I mentioned last week, I think we finally figured out the great chair fiasco of 2016. Our deliveries from Wayfair and Target came in, and while the colors aren’t exactly as I had pictured, I think I really like them! What do you think of the mint with the blue rug?
Because we like to over commit ourselves, I also took a trip to visit Paige in Omaha this weekend (recap post coming soon!) and we had so much fun shopping that I literally had to bring home a huge checked bag to get everything home with me. I picked up some lighting options and a few metal accessories as accents, like these fun antique tiles.
I absolutely love them and the texture but the brown and cream aren’t the exact vibe I’m going for in this room. I’m planning on giving them a few coats of paint and adding back in some texture before hanging them so stay tuned for more!
Last but not least, now that we have a final color palate going, it’s time to pick out curtains!
I was hoping to tie together all of the colors in the photo above, plus potentially add a few to really bring some color and pattern into the space, but struggled to find something I loved! Here are the current contenders:
1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6 // 7 // 8 // 9
As you can see I’m totally torn on what direction to go! What option do you think would be best? A fun and busy pop of color? Or a more subdued structured pattern? Something completely different? My staple white?
I’m all ears 🙂
Check out our past One Room Challenge spaces for more design ideas and pretty pictures 🙂
I think #6 for the curtains but definitely try to find a way to use #1 for something also (pillows?). Great choices.
Thanks Brenda! I love the idea of using #1 somewhere in the room 🙂 It’s definitely one of my favs!
Loving how this is coming along! My favorite options for the window treatments are 1, 2 and 6 – but I don’t think you could go wrong with any of these choices!
