And just like that it’s week 5 of the One Room Challenge! I wish I could say that everything is all lollypops and rainbows, or should I say snickers and sour patch kids post halloween haul (too soon?), but in reality we still have a bit to go until the room is reveal ready!
We’ll keep this weeks updates short and sweet 🙂
We’re slowly starting to pull the room back together, and have the table’s first round of stain on. It turned out a little too red for our liking, so we’ve since added a fun new stain on top, but we’ll keep that a secret until the reveal!
The built-in shelf nook also got some love this week! On Friday I managed to get all of the shiplap up, and M helped me sand and stain. It’s a custom mix of Jacobean and Weathered Oak, and has definitely become one of our favs.
Why use just one stain when you can play with multiple?
The framing was also put up, and the shelves are currently drying in our garage, just waiting for some decor and organization to grace their presence 🙂
We’re installing four shelves about 22″ apart from each other to leave room for computer monitors and taller items, and it still leaves us with TONS more storage that we had previously. Wood + white paint is always a favorite of mine, so I can’t wait to see it all assembled!
As you can see we still have a bit to do in order to pull the room together, so I’m going to get at it and we’re SO excited to share the finished product next week! See you soon!

Pst. What are we talking about? It’s the One Room Challenge! It’s officially week five of a six week challenge hosted by Linda at Calling it Home where 20 designers and hundreds of bloggers participate in a six week blitz to makeover any space of their choosing. We’ve had a blast participating the last four rounds, and we’re excited to keep our streak going!
What type of wood did you use on your wall! It looks amazing!
Thanks so much Char! We used 1/4″ underlayment and ripped it down to roughly 6″ planks- it’s very inexpensive and still stains nicely!
