This past week may have been the fastest and craziest week of this entire year! My job has been a bit nuts, and of course we decided to do a mini bedroom makeover at the same time. Signs of someone who needs more coffee and wine in their lives to keep up. That’s how I take it at least 🙂
We shared our plans earlier this week, and have been painting, installing a light fixture that took far too long, moving in our new bedding, and finally hanging some things on the walls.
Like we mentioned, we wanted to work with what we had in terms of furniture, but after attempting to piece together the space for 2+ years with no clear plan, 5 paint colors later we threw up a white flag. By putting together a mood board, shopping our house and picking up some new lighting, we were able to pull together this neutral yet cozy space 🙂
I was fighting with having enough daylight to take pictures with so not everything on my list got completely checked off (I’m looking at you wrinkly duvet!) but with only a week, and for the most part shopping the house we’re thrilled with the new look!
The bedside lamps were purchased from At Home, and I love how much larger they are than our old 10″ ones! They definitely helped pull the room together, and were worth the wait 🙂
I’m also really excited to finally have a few wedding photos up on our walls! The black and white gets me every time, so it was an easy decision to stick with the neutral theme.
The TV has always been a bit of a black hole in the room, but a bit of art helps balance it and the box was tucked into this fun wire basket. Disguised but still easy accessible.
I am normally a very white and bright curtain type of person, but these charcoal ones from IKEA had me at hello during my last trip there. When I hung them originally, they clashed with our dark gray accent wall (Behr’s Magnet) so the color had to go, and this makeover idea was started! This new color is a personal favorite (Behr’s Wheat Bread) and helps brighten up the space so much, that I actually love the look of the dark heavy curtains, especially for the winter months.
And this amazing light was finally installed as well! We’ve been rocking a dirty brass boob flush mount light for far too long, and unfortunately when we pulled it off to hang this beauty, we found wire damage, a crumbling ceiling, a broken box, and one irritated husband. What could have taken 30 minutes turned into a multi-day project where M tore out drywall and fixed the electrical issues. In the end it was so worth it and we’re so happy it’s now done right!
And with that, this bedroom mini-makeover is complete! Despite the crazy week, we had a great time pulling everything together, and are happy that another room is checked off the list… at least for now 🙂
Very nice love how relaxing it feels. Where did you get your head board?
Thanks so much Margot! The bed is the IKEA Hemnes line, and we painted it in Benjamin Moore’s Cloud White, but IKEA offers a white option as well 🙂
Looks so calm and cozy, I love it! Our bedroom is in need of a huge makeover, it always ends up being the last thing on my list. Maybe next year…
