I’m not even sure how to start off this post, other than that we have some really exciting news to share! Two and a half years ago, pre-engagement, wedding and all of the amazing things that have happened in such a short time, M and I bought our first home together. It was a great home and we absolutely loved fixing it up and sharing on the blog here! However, as much as we thought we’d be in that house for years and years, there were a few things that we realized we’d love toΒ have in a home and we started keeping our eyes open to the market to see if anything amazing popped up.
To be honest, M wanted to move last fall, and I wasn’t really on the same page at the time. It was our first house and we had put so much time, love and energy into it! While he searched the area (we love this city and wanted to stay close, but M’s commute was getting a bit crazy for him at the same time) and sent me house listing after house listing, there was only one that I loved the photos of that said “home” to me.
I’ll spare you the long drawn out story, but in the end, the house was still on the market after the holidays, and I took the first step towards getting aboard the moving train and we went to go walk through it. And, that was pretty much all we needed to see π I was actually a few minutes late to the walk through and couldn’t find the house (directionally challenged) I called M who had only been in the house for all of 1 minute. He answered whispering with an “I’ve only seen the foyer and I love it” and I knew it was over. One house tour, a call to the bank, and fast forward 6 weeks, the we’re so excited to share that the house is ours! That may seem a bit crazy, but when you know you know I suppose!
What’s funny to me is that we didn’t even wrap up every room in our old house before making this move, but she’s officially sold and someone else’s now so we’ll be back to share the listing photos soon! In the meantime, I’ll stop blabbing and share the pictures of the new house! We have SO many ideas to make the space our own, and may or may not have already got started. Let’s begin at the heart of the home, and one of the biggest selling features for us, this big kitchen!
That fireplace is actually a double sided fireplace that’s also facing the family room. Super cozy! I love all of the huge windows in the house too, and this breakfast nook is quickly becoming one of our favorite spots.
Behind that wall is our family room – the ceilings made us have heart eyes.
On the other side of the family room is the front entryway.
Right off of that is a formal living room, that we’re actually going to use as our office. We didn’t get too much use out of our old formal living room, so I’m excited to use these rooms in a way that fits our style more.
The intended space for the office is actually just off of this room, but we’ve got other plans for that we’ll share later on as well!
And to the other side of the entry is the formal dining room.
A little half bath sits off of the dining room as well, just waiting for a little pop of color π
Heading upstairs – We loved how this walkway is open to both sides. The light just travels right on through!
The master bedroom is something we’re looking to start as one of the first projects this time, instead of waiting until a few weeks before we move π
And the master bathroom is absolutely HUGE. Like we could host a dance party in there. Might be kind of weird, but everyone would have plenty of room to shake their groove thing.
AND – there’s two closets. This massive one is mine. Not sure how I’ll ever fill it, but I’m not one to back down from a challenge.
Three spare bedrooms and a main bath wrap up the main parts of the house!
Since there’s already so many pictures in just one post, I’ll be back soon (once Michigan gives us a sunny day finally!) with outside pictures and before’s of M’s favorite space, the finished basement! I could not be happier with the layout of the house, the lot, and the fact that we have wetlands behind us instead of another persons yard (pretty typical for this area!). M’s commute is much more manageable and we’re excited to take what we learned on the first house, and make this one our forever home!

Prost!
