This week for the One Room Challenge we’re chatting paint and shopping! Anddd a huge announcement, that in the many times we’ve participated has never happened – due to all of the terrible natural disasters lately and their impact on so many people and ORC spaces, everyone has an extra week to complete their projects to give those affected a little more time! So, we’re fully embracing the extra week and already added a few projects to the list and have decided to fully take on the closet project. The more we get done now, the happier I’ll be when the little guy finally decides to get here π
If this is your first time stopping by, check out week 1 for the design, week 2 for the floors and week 3 for the wallpaper and paint decision in the baby boy nursery we’re working on!
The big projects for this week were the trim work which M has made major progress on, moving and painting the dresser that we had used in our room and adding a cubby to the top to hold the changing pad. The dresser was originally M’s and came from his grandma, so I love that we can keep passing it down from generation to generation! When we got it, it was in it’s original wood finish, and we painted the shell gray and stained the drawers darker.
For this space, we wanted to keep the painted and stained combo look, but wanted it to be white and bright so a few coats of chalk paint later (we used Annie Sloan in Pure White!), and it was a new piece!
We’re still deciding on if we want to switch up the hardware or not, but hoping something perfect pops up. Matt created the basic frame out of 1x2s (yet to be painted but you get the idea!) and we’re going to attach it to the back of the dresser with some brackets so it’s easy to remove with minimal damage when he’s a little bigger π
We loved it when it was gray, but I think we love it even more now that it’s white π
Now on to the really fun part, shopping! We ended up ordering a rug, light fixture, artwork, crib skirt, mirror (one of the projects we’re adding) and pillow covers. It was quite the expensive week haha, but I’m excited to get so much accomplished! The rocking chair we actually ordered a few weeks ago knowing that it would take weeks to be delivered, and we’re still waiting on an official delivery date, so cross your fingers it gets here in time!
A few items have changed from our original design board, but so far I’m happy with where everything is heading! We also ordered a closet organizer and are playing around with a few design options – more to come in the next two weeks π
And because I’m list obsessed, here’s what’s left on the ol’ to do list!
