And just like that, it’s reveal day for this fall’s One Room Challenge hosted by Linda at Calling it Home! Just seven weeks ago we decided to join this challenge once again after participating for the last few years, and picked the nursery as our room of choice. We’ve walked through the entire makeover week by week (get caught up here if you’d like! week 1, week 2, week 3, week 4, week 5, week 6) and today we get to share all of the photos and finally call this project done. Our little guy is scheduled to arrive in less than 2 months, so I’m excited that we’re ready for him whenever he decides to make his debut!
This was the first nursery design I’ve ever taken on, and I feel like we bounced all over at times. The project started off more “boy” than baby, started trending more baby, and then ended up right smack dab in the middle. I’m so excited that M decided to take a leap of faith and trust my buffalo check wallpaper obsession, and we each got to pick some fun accents in the room that made everything come together, yet be very us instead of following a theme at the same time.
To bring it back to the very beginning, here’s what the room started out looking like, and that same view today!
I feel like we were able to tuck so much into a standard sized bedroom, but love that there’s still plenty of space for baby I to grow into at the same time.
We had a minor panic attack that the rocking chair wouldn’t come in on time, but with the extra week we definitely lucked out and we love it! The footstool was a last minute add to play off of the wallpaper, because apparently we’re team buffalo check these days and just can’t get enough 🙂
The closet was the last project we tackled, upgrading it from a simple bar and shelf to a fun pop of deep black paint with a new closet organizer that’s much better for small baby clothes. Ps. How is it that infant clothes are so stinking cute and small? And don’t even get me started on infant diapers. Ask me about this again at 3am in a couple of months, but for now it’s all the heart eyes over those little tush covers over here.
The dresser was another fun project to work on! It has been passed down in M’s family and is a staple piece that will grow with him throughout the years. We painted the shell white and added the changing pad to the top and attached it in the back, so it can easily be removed when he’s too big to use it.
Fun fact, this is the first ORC that I didn’t have to go out and buy flowers or a plant for. I love the look of something natural in a space, but figured that it’s not so practical in a nursery haha. Pretty sure the score would be plant – 1, Jodie – 0 and I’d have to throw away yet another pot #blackthumb if that would have happened.
We found the oars on Amazon last minute as well after the wallpaper wall was looking a bit empty, and just painted over them to make them match the color scheme in the rest of the room (and screwed them into a stud! safety first!)
And since I feel like I rarely make an appearance on this little ol blog and have roughly 2 pictures proving that I’m actually pregnant, here’s babies first time in his finished room! Clearly mama is more excited about this than he will ever be, but little one you are already so loved and we can’t wait to meet you and snuggle your little self!
Thanks so much for stopping by! To keep the party going (and you should, because there are some AMAZING transformations, be sure to check out the designers and other guests participating this season 🙂

Seriously amazing as usual! I cannot wait to meet the little guy! He will love his room and be able to grow with it for years to come. Great work guys! Congrats!
this looks fab! I love how the rope detail of the mirror echoes the rope in the light fixture. the whole room pulls together so well!
When I first learned you were using
buffalo check wallpaper in a nursery I
was intrigued to see how you would pull this off.
I LOVE IT!!! The whole room is just so
magazine worthy and so professional
looking yet I can actually see someone
reading a little book in this comfortable
room and rocking baby to sleep.
So many other rooms look staged …which we know they are for pictures…..but your room
looks ready to welcome the little guy and is
still GREAT looking.
Not just anyone can pull that off.
Congratulations on the perfect nursery.
You are too kind! Thanks so much for the nice note Deb! 🙂

OK. This nursery is adorable! Found you through the One Room Challenge link up and I cant stop staring. That wallpaper is amazing and I need it in my life. The way you painted the back of the closets to make the white pop is also the prettiest detail. Pinning these spaces immediatly!
Thanks so much Bethany! We really appreciate the pins 🙂 There are so many amazing rooms to pop through on the link up!
