This is the first time in the history of all of our One Room Challenges that I’m late in posting, but life has been pretty wild lately and we’ve been traveling last minute a lot and I’ve completely mixed up my days! This one is going to be a rush to the finish line, and we’ve had to change up a few projects because of some life events happening behind the scenes, but I’m still excited to keep sharing the progress and final photos so soon!
Last week since we weren’t able to physically get much done, I did some dreaming and some shopping 🙂
First up was this fun basket. I love that it’s floppy and adds some texture to the space! I’ve seen them all over blogland lately, so had to get in on the fun.
I’m thinking it will be a perfect catch all for hats and gloves in the winter, and dog leashes, sunscreen and cute baby bucket hats in the summer!
Next up was hardware for the mini mudroom area and the closet doors. Both are from Ikea (who has stepped up their game in the hardware department)
I love how large the long handles for the doors are going to be, and the way we can personalize the cute hooks for our family!
Last but not least we finally made a decision on the mudroom part of the space. As I mentioned before, it’s not a very wide room, and I was hesitant about adding much of anything to the wall opposite of the washer and dryer.
That is until, we discovered the idea of skinny lockers! I promise I didn’t just make that up and it’s a thing. Basically we can create a little locker mudroom area at about half of the depth of a normal locker. This way we get the functionality and storage of a mudroom, but it won’t interfere with accessing the washer and dryer. Win win!
Now my final decision is whether to make the bench built in and commit to the skinny locker-ness, or build a skinny movable bench that should it start to drive me crazy, I can move.
Decisions decisions.
What do you think? Built-in or freestanding? I’m officially taking votes 🙂
See you back here on Thursday for our final decision on the bench! We’ve got some work to do if we’re going to make it to this finish line 🙂
Psst. Be sure to check out the amazing designers and participants as always! So much inspiration!
Freestanding bench .
I have a sturdy bench that is at least 30 years old.
It has been everything from an end of the bed bench to a mud room bench to a sun room bench.
It has changed colors a couple of times.
It is about to start life over as a end of the bed bench again:):)::)
Good luck in getting it done in the next two weeks.
I love that!! Staple pieces are always the best! Thanks so much for the vote 🙂
