Bah! It’s here. It’s reveal day for all of the amazing One Room Challenge spaces!
Despite doing this many many times, the weeks never seem to get longer and we always seem to be rushing to the finish line. This time was no different! We decided to tackle our laundry room/mudroom area since it was beyond cluttered and needed a little love.
Let’s take a stroll down memory lane, shall we? When we first moved in, it looked like this…
Green, peach and laminate floors, oh my! The candy apple green color wasn’t exactly speaking to me, so I ended up painting with some leftover paint just to make it feel a bit brighter shortly after we moved in. Then, when we did the kitchen, we ordered cabinets that matched the wood island. Although it was no longer green and peach, nothing was fully installed and the leftover paint was a short term fix.
After dreaming up our ideal space, here was the design plan that we originally pulled together!
And now thanks to the ORC, here’s where we ended up!
The walls were painted in a pretty off white, BM’s White Dove, while the mudroom area got a little hint of green to play homage to the original state of the room (kidding, but I do really love this sage color!) with BM’s Carolina Gull.
Normally this time of year the trees are in full bloom here in Michigan, and I love to put it throughout the house. But since we’re a bit delayed a little greenery works instead!
I moved a few plants from the kitchen window ledge into here and we’ll see how they do – I love how they look in the baskets and I can always move them back if they start to look ill or I want more folding room!
The bench was the easiest DIY ever! I was debating on a built in or freestanding option, and am so happy with the final decision. The space isn’t very wide, so I can move it out if it ever gets in the way, but we still have the functionality of a bench when we need it. Win, win!
The original lighting was florescent tubes, so swapping that out for this fun lantern (that also plays off of the kitchen lights!) made a huge impact.
Ps. Did you know Target sells those valances now? They’re super cute and come in two colors. They’re just velcro so you can hang them at a few different heights easily, and I’m tempted to use them in more spaces after how pretty and simple it looks in here!
My little shadow, aka Kuma, photobombed so many pictures during this reveal that I feel she deserves her own close up. Complete with a beard full of “spring” ๐ She says thanks so much for stopping by, and the rug is super comfortable!
And that’s officially a wrap! Although we unfortunately didn’t get everything on our list checked off (more on the “why” on that later!) I’m so happy with the transformation and hope you enjoyed the photos! Before you go, be sure to check out all of the amazing reveals between the designers and participants, I dare you to not get sucked in!
Now just to keep it clean ๐
**Sources coming asap!

What a huge huge difference. Great work!
Thanks so much Christina! Sometimes small spaces aren’t so easy to completely transform when the layout doesn’t change, so I really appreciate the comment!
Lovely! OH So LOVELY! Well done!
Thank you Ginny! ๐
Jodie this room is absolutely stunning! I love every little detail that you put in here from that gorgeous light, the awesome bench and the lovely valence. I’m sure doing laundry will be a little less painful now that you have such a beautiful space haha!
Thanks so much Angela! Less painful is 100% right ๐ So glad to have a finished space!
Its beautiful! I just love the green you picked for the bench area!
Thanks Jaclyn! It just might be my new favorite green color ha!
This space is simplicity at it’s absolute best! It is so fresh and calm, and that muted green was the perfect choice along with all of the other soft and subtle colors. Everything is ust lovely
Thanks Lindsey! Such a sweet comment! <3

Great job, what chic and useful space!
Thank you!!
I love the mud room wall!, Are you planning on doing a post about how that came together?
Hi Janis, I’d be happy to! It’s a very simple DIY. I’ll add it to my post schedule!
That light green is to die for!!
Thanks so much Jennifer! It’s BM’s Carolina Gull ๐
I absolutely LOVE the new space! The green is a perfect touch and plays so well with the dark cabinets. It’s just gorgeous!
Thank you! The dark cabinets weren’t so “trendy” right now so we had a hard time finding inspiration and decided to wing it a bit. I’m happy we took the risk though!
I love how this space turned out! It’s so serene and pretty – that sage is so good. Great job!
Thanks Emily! I’m actually excited to do laundry now haha
Really lovely!!
Thank you! <3
Lovely space! Love the sage green โbuilt inโ. I participated in the ORC. Just making my rounds through the blogs! So much talent out there!
Thanks so much! Cheers to the ORC and being done ๐
I love the green mudroom wall!
Thanks so much Norma!
I wish I had this laundry room! It is giving me major motivation to spruce up my basement laundry. Great job!
Thanks so much for the sweet comment and good luck on your project! Itโs definitely not my favorite chore so it helps to have a fun space to distract you ๐
The laundry room is perfect. From materials chosen and colors to the details. Can you tell me where you purchased the botanical prints?
Love the room. Tastefully updated! We had a Kuma dog too. Big headed sweetest red heeler. <3
Love thisโฆ.Did you lighten the Carolina Gull paint? I bought it for my walls and it is 10xโs darker, even with a window in the laundry room?
So strange! No, it was not lightened at all!
