Holy moly how has it been since May that I’ve put out a blog post?! To say we’ve been busy is an understatement, and along with adjusting to life with a baby, we’ve made some major career and housing moves as well!
If you’ve been following along for the ride (thanks so much for sticking in there with us!) you might be confused, seeing as we bought our second house about a year ago and haven’t even began to share half of it on here (like the kitchen reveal above ha!), but earlier this spring while I was still on maternity leave, my husband Matt (aka M) decided to go after a position in Chicago, and he got it! There was sooo much more behind the scenes of course, but that’s the straight and to the point version π
He proceeded to move out to Chicago and live in a hotel for a couple of months, while I held down the fort back at our house with our little guy, Duke, prepping our house to sell and for us to move. It has been the craziest summer ever, and although I was really sad to let our dream home we were building together go, I’m also really excited about this new adventure! We’ve officially found a new home and moved in a couple of weeks ago, so posts around here are going to get a little goofy. I’d love to share some of the updates we finished in our Michigan home prior to selling, and will share snippets of life here in Illinois as well! So, bare with me while we bounce around from house to house.
We never in a million years saw this happening and especially after putting so much love into our last house, but we’re feeling refreshed after the crazy that is moving and ready to take on a new project! I think our style has changed slightly with the new feel of this home, so I’m excited to see some new ideas come to life.
I’ll be back soon with some Michigan house projects, as well as to share all the good before photos are our new Illinois house. Although we’ve only been here for a couple of weeks, it’s already starting to feel like home, and we’re loving so much about it!
Michigan will always have our hearts and we hope one day to go back, but for now, bring on everything Chicago and let’s have some fun here!
All of these photos are recent pictures shared on Instagram, where I’m much better at updating our daily lives before it’s shared on the blog if you’d like to follow along!
Wow! You moved from the great state of Michigan to the high taxes state of Illinois? We live in a suburb of Chicago and have a summer home near South Haven Michigan and we canβt wait to get the heck out of Illinois! I hope the job was worth it!
The taxes are absolutely mind blowing for sure but we love the area so far! Our hearts will always belong in Michigan and we hope to make it back there some day π
