Sooo this last week has absolutely FLOWN by! We had a few unexpected (but good!) things pop up like painters for another space in our house start our job early and having to shift 4 days of my time to focus on that, but these are all good things and it means our house is starting to look and feel a little more like “us”! But today is all about the One Room Challenge so let’s get to it!

We’re currently tackling our son’s nursery, and this week most of our progress involves shopping and sourcing some fun materials 🙂 If you’re here for the first time, be sure to check out our design plan we shared last week!
Last weekend we went to the local flea market, despite being caught in a rain storm. I wasn’t quite sure what was going to pop up to inspire the project. It was hard not to get distracted, because there was sooo much goodness!
I mean, I probably needed those lockers and that chicken nesting box, right? Dang it. So easily distracted 😛Â
Luckily, M has more of a laser focus than me on the vintage sports part of this project, and did spot some old baseball bats, so we picked two up to start the day off. After mulling over what to do with them, we’re officially on the hunt for 3 more to hang in a little mural over the little guy’s crib. Mounted very securely to the wall of course, so he can’t take them off and decide to demo-day his crib in the middle of the night 🙂

We also found this cute wall hanging with the old Cubs logo on it that seemed perfect to keep the baseball theme going. If anything else amazing pops up that we see from another sport we’ll add that, but for right now we’re running with baseball!
We also settled on a light fixture and started the hunt for pillows for the reading nook. I loved the idea of a gold or brass fixture to pop against the stark walls, and snagged this fun light that will be here tomorrow!

A fan isn’t needed in this room since we have a small floor fan that circulates air for him and is noisier than a ceiling fan so it helps drown out any noises while he’s sleeping. Plus, I’m a fan of a fun fixture over a ceiling fan any day 🙂Â
Here’s everything we’ve pulled so far.

I’m really excited about how everything is starting to come together! Next week I hope to have the moulding and reading nook bench started so we can share the progress there. In the meantime, be sure to checkout all of the amazing progress this week with all of the designers and participants over on the One Room Challenge blog!
Here from ORC! Flea markets are dangerous – I mean fun! I love the theme you have going, and the colors are so restful. I have that same throw from Target, and i love the giant pom-poms. They just make me happy 🙂
great lockers!! love the color too and will work so well with the brass on the lighting fixture. funny I used to have a sewing table base too at my foyer!
Oooh! Fun concept! I love all things vintage and am excited to see how this precious little mans space turns out. Great ideas!
What a fun and creative room this will be!
