Welcome back to the One Room Challenge! Last week we chatted all about our design plans and shared the before photos of our multipurpose den space, and this week we’re excited to share some big progress!

Here’s what the room looked like when we started for reference.

And here’s our progress so far!

It’s coming along! We had the floors installed a little bit ago when we worked through the living room updates, but managed to get all of the painting (UGH buh-bye wood trim! We won’t miss you.) almost done. For the walls we went with Benjamin Moore’s Flint. An awesome dark gray with a blue undertone. We’ve used it both in our living room on the fireplace and in our office on the ceiling and absolutely love it!

We snagged these curtains at Hobby Lobby on clearance for around $7 per panel, and although they still need some major hemming, I love how soft they are with the dark walls.

The Murphy bed has also been hung! We ordered it unfinished in maple so we could customize our own stain color and I can’t wait to get to testing out some colors. I also have plans to make the bed more custom, so stay tuned for that post in a couple of weeks!

There are also some other updates hiding in the room 🙂 They may or may not be hiding under that black old sheet so it didn’t get paint on it, but more on that next week! Oh, and we still have to decide what to do about that accent wall. I’m still hoping to pull off the brick look, and hope to get started on that one next weekend. Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly and my son takes a superrr long nap 😛
And that’s it for this week! The room is starting to take shape, we have a few plans in place and we may or may not have ordered two different light fixtures that just showed up to test out in the room.
Progress! We’ll see you here next week with more details! In the meantime, be sure to check out all of the amazing designers and fellow guest participants over on the One Room Challenge blog!
Love where this is headed! Where did you purchase your Murphy Bed from or did you guys build it, DIY style?
I just love that color. It make the room cooler but the wood floor keep some warmth. Very pretty balance. Looking forward to week 3. Rock it!!!
