And we’re back! This summer has been a bit of a crazy one (trips, pregnancy, toddlers and crazy work schedules) but we couldn’t miss a One Room Challenge even if we tried 🙂 We’re pretty much in love with the results each season, even if it adds a lot of extra crazy to our lives, so here we go! Drumroll please… this fall season we’re tackling our master bedroom!
It’s going to be one of our smaller plans, but I still think it will have a big impact on the space and bring it a major update. So if you’re looking for a smaller, budget friendly and super achievable project in your life, hopefully this will bring you a little inspiration!
The biggest things I’m relying on for this transformation are something that I talk to my clients about all the time – paint, art and lighting. We will be keeping most of our existing furniture other than that, and I hope you see how much of an impact those three things can make!
First things first, let’s take a peek at some good ol’ before photos.
Just like everything else in this house (including our last ORC room – our den) , it’s starting out very… brown. Let’s be real – I see enough of that in my son’s diaper every day, so it’s not really the color I’d like to drift off to sleep to. Plus, with a new little one on the way, we’d really like a peaceful place to retreat to post 1am (and 1:30, 2:34, 3:06, 4:25, etc.) wake up calls.

SUPER monochromatic, but NOT in a good way. The bed, bedding, nightstands and lamps are all from our last home, and we added the TV cabinet out of necessity when we moved here. We have a closet big enough to hold all of our clothes luckily so there’s no need for a dresser and we can get creative with the rest of the space.
Here’s the plans (for now!):

Bedding // Lamps // Nightstands (similar) // Light Fixture // Curtains // Fiddle // Pillows // Lumbar Pillow // Chair // Frames // Cabinet // Baskets
Some of the items we own, some I plan on purchasing, and some are complete inspiration pieces! I’ll share more when we do a little shopping haul later in the challenge 🙂
The master bedroom walls are going to be painted Benjamin Moore’s White Dove (this is the first thing on the to-do list!) and the trim in BM Chantilly Lace to match the main living spaces in our house. We’ve done the dark and moody scene in our last house, so this time we’re trying out light and bright filled with lots of textures to switch it up!
The fireplace is actually an inspiration photo I took while visiting a local showroom and is bands of reclaimed wood and metal. I instantly fell in love! This project is a TBD on the list as there are a few things up in the air still, but if it happens it’s going to be added between the door to the hallway and our bathroom. If not, I have another styling idea that would be super functional for us!
SO many ideas, so little time, so let’s get to it! See you back here next week for an update with a (hopefully) fully painted master bedroom! Before you go, be sure to check out all of the super talented designers and guest participants who are tackling all sorts of amazing spaces this season!
Brown walls and stained trim, I bid you adieu. For-ev-er.
