Boy’s Nursery Makeover – ORC Week 1

Guess what’s back? Back again? One Room Challenge is back, tell a friend.

Guess what’s back.

Guess what’s back.

Guess what’s back.

If you’re still singing, let’s be friends 🙂 It’s that time again, today kicks off the fall One Room Challenge! This challenge is going to be a little different for us, because in all honesty, for the first time ever the room has already been started.

We planned on participating in the spring version of this challenge earlier this year, but ended up spending time in the hospital with our little heart warrior instead, which obviously took priority over everything in our lives. So, now we’re picking up where we left off, and are so excited to put the finishing touches on our little guy’s room, now that he’s home and healthy! Because none of it has been shared so far, we’ll be starting from the very beginning, and taking you along for the progress we’ve made, and what’s left on our list!

First thing’s first, let’s start with some before photos! Nothing terrible, but nothing overly exciting at the same time.

And next, the fun part. The design!

Wallpaper // Pillows (affiliate link) // Rocker // Flag // Crib // Lamp // Rug // Pegs (affiliate link) // Dresser // Hanger // Shirt // Frame // Paint – SW Agreeable Gray // Light & Ottoman – No Longer Available

A mostly neutral design that can transition to later stages of his childhood is the goal here, with tall board and batten moldings topped off with a fun grain sack wallpaper, complimented by white and wood furniture. The rocking chair from our older son’s room will get transitioned into this room, and I love the idea of small leather accents. The art will be simple yet statement making, and I’ve been eyeing this flag, inspired by art we saw in a hotel while on a last minute trip before C made his arrival! A peg wall to hang both frames and for practical purposes to hang clothes (give me allll the baby plaid!), and some fun lighting options finish off the planned portion of the design. Everything else? I’ll know it whenever I see it 🙂

So let’s get this party started! I am so excited to finally start sharing this room, and finish the nursery for our little guy! Ready, set, go!

Pst. Want to be inspired? Be sure to check out all of the designers and guest participants this week, and throughout the challenge!

I can’t wait to see this come together! I love the “don’t give up the ship” flag. I have been wanting to use that in a client’s home forever and just got a nursery to use it in! So cute! Good luck! I’m doing ORC for my home office.

Thanks so much! I’m sure your office will be amazing! Love that you’re using the flag in a nursery as well 🙂 Such a fun statement!
